RE: [Histonet] PLP Fixation

From:"Mitchell (Jean)"

I use periodate-lysine-paraformaldehyde fixative for skin samples. I
start with a lysine stock solution & a paraformaldehyde stock solution
(each stable for 3 weeks). I make up the working solution with those
stock solutions the day of use adding the periodate powder at that time.

I have not experienced the solution turning yellow after 24 hours. If
you would like more specifics on the solutions I use, I would gladly
forward that information to you.

Subject: [Histonet] PLP Fixation

We have a research project in which all the tissues are fixed in
periodate-lysine-paraformaldehyde (PLP). The question has arisen as to
how long in advance to use can the solution be made? and the solution
turns
yellow after approx. 24 hours. Is this solution still usable? Thank
you
for your help.
Cheryl
