Re; Ammonia neutralising formaldehyde

From:John Auld

Hi Beth

Don't know if ammonia neutralises the action of formaldehyde, but it is
certainly used to neutralise the odour. I have seen it documented
(somewhere in the dark dim recesses of my mind) for use for this after
using formaldehyde to fumigate cryostats.

Sorry I can't remember the reference

John

Subject: Ammonia neutralizes formaldehyde??

Has anyone ever heard of the idea that ammonia neutralizes ammonia?
Someone told me this was fact- I never heard of this before and I can't
imagine how this would be true. Any input from you guys?

Thanks,
