Nancy,
Unfortunately, I have had the experience of working with CJD. Either one
should be okay.   The tissue should only be placed in formic acid for 1
hour and than placed in 10% formalin.  Prolonged treatment in formic acid
will destroy the tissue. There is an article from LabLeader published in
1997 on CJD that is very informative.  If you would like I can fax it to
