Acid cleaning glassware with chlorides

From:Cheryl Crowder

To those who are cleaning their glassware with hydrochloric acid or
bleach - You are not supposed to use any solution which contains chloride
as this will interfere with some stains, particularly silvers. Also if
there is residual chloride on the glass it can cause hematoxylin to
become pale. One is better off to just rinse the glassware with
distilled water than to use chlorides. Cheryl
