Re: Study Guide

From:Lee & Peggy Wenk

ASCP Board of Registry announced that they were REMOVING
most of the EM questions from the HT and HTL exams. The only
questions that will remain are about fixation. That is because
histotechs may need to send tissue to EM labs, so they need
to know how to fix the tissue before it is sent.

Other additions include:
- Grossing questions for HTL starting this year
- Grossing questions for HT starting 2005
- Cytoprep questions for HT and HTL starting this year.

There has been NO announcements from ASCP BOR
regarding adding question on PCR (or ISH, FISH,
DNA analysis, any blots, etc.) So as far as I know,
there are NO molecular path questions on the
HT or HTL exam. (My HTL students just took their
HTL exams the end of August/beginning of Sept.,
and NONE of them reported Mol. Path. questions.)

(There usually IS an ISH stain requested on the
Qualification in Immunohistochemistry practical,
offered through ASCP BOR. But that's a different
"exam".)
