this is short for Depex Polystyrene. It is a mountant that largely replaced
Canada Balsam over 30 years ago in many labs. at least in Europe.
It is soluble in xylene, toluene etc.
It has the advantage that it dries fairly rapidly and once dry the excess
mountant can be peeled from around the coverslip.
Not sure who originally supplied it but think it was Gurr.
