Doug,

This is the knife guard for the corner of exposed knife. It swings up and
down for knife removal.

Subject: AO 820 Microtome question

I just purchased an AO 820 microtome (blue grey color not the black kind)
and have a question.....
When I look at pictures of the 820's there is sometimes a lever on the
right side of the microtome on base just to the right (and slightly
back of) the blade holder. Some versions have nothing there. Mine has such
a spot but has no lever. I can't see it having anything to do with the
blade holder adjustments. Any ideas?
