I think before you embark on setting-up IHC in your laboratory you need to answer a few questions regarding your IHC workload and your (and your pathologist's) time commitment to perform quality control/assurance activities relating to IHC staining. I see too many problems (including mis-diagnoses) from labs that are not performing these procedures on a daily basis. Also, keep in mind that therapeutic decisions are being established on the results of IHC staining (especially ER/PR) and you better be able to show that you are producing a quality product that is reproducible time after time. Just a few words of caution............
