I need assistance from you....

The safety officer at our hospital is demanding that the Mettler balance
(for weighing dry chemicals)  needs to be in a fume hood.   What is the
standard out there?  The balance is already in an enclosed glass box, so
that there is glass between the tech and the measured substance.   What are
your labs doing?
