The answer is, yes, NFR can be cleared in xylene. It is one of my favorite
counterstains. It's quick and I prefer the contrast to hematoxylin when I use a
DAB-black chromogen. I use Nuclear Fast Red from Vector, but just tell your
co-worker to filter it first.
