Kaiser Permanente of Southern California is currently seeking an Assistant
Laboratory Manager of Histology for the Regional Reference Laboratory
located in North Hollywood.  

Qualifications:
Individuals must have 5 years of experience in a high-volume histopathology
laboratory.  In addition, candidates must have 3 years experience in a
supervisory or managerial position.  Knowledge of federal, state, and local
accreditation agency regulations.  Extensive technical knowledge of routine
and specialty staining and histopathology techniques required.  Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills a must.  Skills in MS Word,
PowerPoint, and Excel.

Duties:
Through subordinate supervisors, directs and controls daily operations for
high-volume histopathology dept.  Recruits, hires, trains, and ensures
competency of staff.  Motivates and encourages professional growth.
Controls costs by monitoring productivity, personnel utilization, material
usage rates, analyzing fluctuations in types and volumes of tests, and
implementing corrective actions and outcomes.  Implements dept. Total
Quality Mgt.  Participates in the design of Regional Laboratory and Southern
CA integrated laboratory quality system.  Ensures compliance with regulatory
and accreditation agencies' rules and regulations.  Implements effective
risk control processes.  Researches and resolves client problems and issues.
Oversees and coordinates start-up and implementation activities resulting
from new services or transfer of services.  Participates in dept.,
inter-department, and inter-facility projects which help the Regional
Laboratory achieve its goal of providing quality service and client support
in a cost-effective manner.  Develops transition plan and time lines for new
services and tests, outreach programs or transfer of work, and monitor
milestones to achieve service expectations.  Coordinates internal resources
to support new service.  Serves as primary liaison to LIS for ongoing and
new issues.  Develops needs analysis as appropriate.  Coordinates the
integration of secondary laboratory information systems with LIS.
