Hi Michelle, me again. I have a salary survey from Laboratory Medicine dated
March, 1997. To my knowledge this is the last survey they did. I'm sure
someone will let us know if there is one more current. For an Histologic
Technician in the West South Central region (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma,
and Texas) they reported these ranges: Beginning $9.50, Top $13.40, Average
$13.50. Yes, I know those numbers don't seem to make sense, the average
being higher than the top but I am taking it directly from the report. I can
also tell you that the ranges for the far west are well below what my
hospital pays and we are competitive but not at the top. However, I think
that California may have higher ranges than some other western states.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
