Lynn - In reply to your question about microwaving the Giemsa stain:  You
can heat the methanol is you don't heat it above 55 degrees C.  Otherwise
what we do is put the slides in methanol at room temperature for 6 minutes
and make the other reagents  and set up while that's happening.  Then we put
the slides in Jenner solution at room temp or in the MW.  The Giemsa
solution can also be MW for 45 seconds at 70 percent power.  Then
differentiate as usually, dehydrate, clear and coverslip.  If you want our
