It's all about reducing risk I expect. I take your point that it is not
worth missing lesions because you are wearing 'armoured gloves' but it
is not correct that there is no infection risk. With the larger
specimens if cut 'unfixed' then there is a risk albeit slight. I guess
the interim position is to use these gloves when cutting unfixed
material such as lung etc., or when you are trying to cut 'hard' tissue
and there's a risk of the knife slipping.
