Any Nissl-type stain will do. Cresyl violet, thionine, toluidine blue all work
well on frozen sections. Tol blue washes out with alcohol so use 2-3 changes of
acetone for dehydration. Simple, fast and, at least with tol blue, myelin is a
bit metachromatic.
