Re: TB / IHC

From:Brian Chelack

IHC staining for mycobacteria is relatively easy. We use a
polyclonal antibody from Dako. The tricky bit is that the
antisera we have used will not differentiate the various
mycobacterial species. We have in the past looked at a wide
range of poly and monoclonal antibodies to try and find an
antibody to specifically stain individual mycobacterial
species. After trying over 40 antibodies we gave up and now
just indicate that we cannot differentiate to species.
Other acid fast bacteria such as Nocardia can crossreact.
