RE: fs done by PA

From:"Martin, Ronald"

Noreen/Charles,
I think this is a question of state licensing and not technical capabilities. When I was a Florida state licensed technologist I was licensed to do everything in histology. My impression regarding Florida state licensing was that anyone performing diagnostic testing needed to be state licensed. Most of the PA's that I knew were OJT HTL's/HT's with a Florida technologists license and college degree.

Can a pathologist make his own slide? I would think that the PA could do it if the pathologist could.
I do most of the frozens here.

Does anyone know if a PA can perform frozen sections in the state of Florida? Just making the slide, not reading it. Do they have to hold a tech license?
Anyone??
Thanks
Noreen
