RE: Block submission guidelines...

From:"Charles.Embrey"

I have never seen any government guidance about this.  It is normally left to the pathologist to practice medicine the way he wants.  I know that there are informal guidelines involving specific specimens that are research paper driven and there are recommended guidelines in Ackermans' Surgical Pathology.

Hello all,

Is anyone aware of any national guidelines for the number of blocks to be submitted by pathologists on surgical specimens?  If so, can you point me in that direction?

Thanks,
