Clearing fish for wholemounts

From:Sue Reilly

Hi;
When preparing wholemounts of fish to be stained with Alcian Blue and
Alizarin Red, we have used trypsin for the small laval fish, but for the
larger samples we use "Preen" laundry presoak for the clearing step.
We have consistently had very good results with this procedure. However now
we find the company has somehow changed it's product. You cannot tell from
the labelling of the product, but when we find some old stock and compare
the results it is definitely superior to the product presently on sale.
Has anyone found another product which will give good results for this
application?
Regards
Sue
