sleep depravation

From:Cathy Mayton

Fellow histonetters,

It seems that many of us have trouble sleeping at night and then getting up
the next morning feeling just as tired as when we went to bed. I too was
one of those until recently. I own a small private contract lab and would
be thinking about the clients specimens before I went to sleep and again
when I woke several times during the night. I would worry that maybe the
specimens spontaneously polymerized in the middle of the night (what a
nightmare). I would wake up just as tired if not more than the previous
night. Sometimes I only slept maybe a total of 4 hours. My husband too
has trouble sleeping because he works rotating shifts which really screws
your system up!!

However, my massage therapist gave me a tape to try. We tried the tape for
a few nights and then I purchased a CD so that I could return her tape
and bought an alarm clock that has a CD player. I turn the CD on just as
I turn over to my favorite "go to sleep" side. The first week I found the
CD to be initially irritating. I mentioned this to the massage therapist
and she said it is probably because the brain is so used to being very
active prior to trying to fall asleep that it was actually fighting what
was being played on the CD. Within a week I was going to sleep very fast,
hearing maybe 5 minutes of the CD and sleeping very deep and sound. I no
longer wake up in the middle of the night worrying about the clients
specimens and I am completely refreshed in the morning. It also seems to
have helped my husband as well.

The CD is not music. It produces sounds that sends the brain into delta
waves. The company brochure states that "delta is the slowest of all four
brain wave frequencies, most commonly associated with sleep, healing and
regeneration".

If you are interested you may contact the company Brain Sync directly at
1-800-444-SYNC or visit their web site at www.brainsync.com The product I
purchased is called Sound Sleep which is sold as cassettes or CD. The CD
plays for 1 hour. They advertise that "hospitals and biofeedback clinics
throughout the world are using Sound Sleep successfully to help patients
get a good night's rest. For about $17 you too can get a good nights
sleep. The company has many other products as well.

If you are opened-minded you may want to try it and see if you too get the
same results.
Sweet dreams, and oh by the way, massage therapy helps reduces the knots in
your muscles.
Cathy
