xylene in tissue processors

From:Noreen Gilman

The safety officer at our facility wants us to switch to a xylene substitute in both our tissue processors and our coverlipper. We are using the VIP2000 as well as the Sakura film coverslipper. Does anyone have any experience with xylene substitutes in these machines? I was always under the impression that substitutes were not to be used. Any comments?
