This is in response to Mike Black's inquiry on fatty tissue fixation.  Mike,
BBC Biochemical manufactures an excellent fixative called Rapid•Fix,
specifically designed for use at the grossing station for fatty tissues.  It
is compatible with all other primary fixatives as well as formalin.  It
fixes twice as fast as formalin while containing no alcohol.  It contains
"protectants" that eliminates over-fixation.  It is an inexpensive solution,
(in most cases just a few dollars more than 10% formalin), to a huge
problem.
