My endocrinologist was told when he was a sailor in WWII that if you took
the isopropl alcohol out of the torpedos and filtered it through raw
bread dough that it would change it into the drinkable kind.  When he told
this to his first chemistry teacher in college blindness was mentioned.

He said the process was very messy and the cook was always mad when they
stole his dough.
