Re: Amido-Schwartz

From:Ballnclaw@aol.com

Amido-Schwartz is a "chemical branding" procedure used for marking
amphibians. It is permanent for at least a year. It is applied using a cotton
swab dipped in a solution of 0.5 % amido Schwartz in 7 percent acetic acid.
It is used to create a temporary water resistant label or tattoo on frogs and
salamanders after their mucous secretions are removed.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what Amido-Schwartz is? A colleague is trying to stain
fish otoliths but the method does not give much detail on what this stain
is.
Cheers
Liz
