Atoska:
I have not found a way to get rid of the random silver precipitate (I think
the scientific name for it is "crud").  I have found I can avoid it by
putting the sections on plain glass slides (we normally use Plus slides).
With our Warthin-Starry stain, it appears to be a problem confined to a few
BLOCKS, and has nothing to do with the tissue.  When we get it, the "crud"
is fairly uniformly distributed over the area corresponding to the wax
block, extending beyond the edge of the tissue, then stopping fairly
abruptly some distance out.  Indeed, looking at the slide by eye, you can
often see a ghost outline of the block around the tissue.
If anyone else has a solution, I would love to hear it.

Hello has anyone doing warthin-starry stain experienced excessive black
