Subject: sentinel node evaluation

We are about to begin the examination of sentinel
nodes in my lab. I would be grateful if anyone already
doing this could provide me with details of how they
block the node and the subsequent sectioning and
staining procedures. Does anyone perform it on frozen
sections and/or fixed parafin embedded material? Is
immunohistochemistry advantagous?

At present I have not been able to find a standardized
protocol for this. There appears to be great
variation. Any advice on the advantages and pitfalls
of the above would be appreciated.
