RE: Gold Chloride
From: | Jim at ProSciTech <jim@proscitech.com> |
Looking at the old Merck Index this compound for nerve staining and making of
gold sols, has several other names and the formula can be differently arranged.
Chloroauric acid; hydrogen tetrachloroaurate; gold trichloride, acid;
hydrochloroauric acid; aurochlorohydric acid. Our material has the formula
H(AuCl4) :H2O. F.W. 229.79 and apparently works well in histo.
Incidentally, its a DG and therefore not economic to ship overseas.
Those not familiar with the compound should also note that its caustic, very
hygroscopic and breaks down in light; so minimize exposure to light.
Cheers
