Glenda can probably say more about her program, but I'd like to
"brag" about her program, if I could.

Glenda's program is a 1 year teleconference histotech program,
which is accredited by NAACLS. Her program takes (I think) about
23 sites in the US.

It is designed for people already working in the field of
histotechnology, who are being trained on-the-job (OJT), and would
like some additional help learning and/or studying for the ASCP
HT/HTL exams. Since this is a NAACLS accredited program, participants
can take the HT/HTL exam immediately upon completion of the program.

Once a week, there is a teleconference lecture (1 1/2 hours, if I
remember correctly). There are reading assignments, homework, and
practical slides that must be stained. The homework and stained
slides are sent to Glenda for grading. In addition, there are also
exams that Glenda gives and grades.

One site can have more than one person going through the course.
The number of sites that can participate is limited, however. At
each site, there must be a ASCP registered HT or HTL, to act as
the "moderator."

For those working in the who want to take the HT exam BEFORE the
requirements change in 2005 to needing an associate degree,
this may something to consider.

This is a course at Indiana University, so you do earn college credits,
and you do have to pay college tuition rates. In addition there are the
weekly teleconference call rates and the mailing rates.

Contact Glenda for more information. And maybe Glenda can correct
any errors or holes in my memory.
