I have worked at several hospitals and we just listed the control
numbers on the slides on the second lines and filed these with the first
case with the date.....this worked great ( one control per batch).

dear marg, we run one control with our stains, we keep a log with the cases 
the stains were done one and we pick one to file the control with, the 
record is in the log also the control result is recorded in this log.  hope
