Say what you will about unions, but without mine, I would have been
transformed from a 45K/year lead tech to a peice worker getting $1/per
block when my pathologist bought the lab from the hospital and got rid of
everyone (2 secretaries and one cytotech) who wasn't in a union. He tried
to fire me too but my union grievance procedure overturned an unjust two
day suspension and preserved my job as is with ten years of seniority and
my benefits. My union dues are well spent.
