Jim,

We don't do hoofs regularly, thank goodness. When we did a project in the
past, sections were first cut on a band saw and the fixed. After fixation,
the sections were covered with "Nair" to soften. They were processed
routinely. We found it difficult to face in if they were not softened
prior to processing. Just our lab's opinion.
