According to F. Carson's book, if hydrochloric acid is used after 
formaldehyde fixation there is a potential for the formation of bis
-chloromethyl ether, a carcinogen.

[Histonet] Chlorine gas

Has any one heard that mixing decal solution and formalin would cause
the formation of chlorine gas?
