Your recommendation is correct as long as others do use/do what you do: your
particular stain, concentration, age, specimen, concentration of acid and
alcohol.  Therefore, you must provide these details if they are to be
useful.  Otherwise, you paint with too broad a brush.  The devil resides in
the details: dye left = (dye in) minus (dye out).
