casting resin
From: | katherine-walters@uiowa.edu |
Hi- here's a weird one. We were using our sliding microtome on a whole mouse
and the P.I. got excited and asked if we could preserve the slices and even a
half cut mouse in casting resin. I got some and tried it. I fixed the mouse,
putting a slide on top to keep the organs in place, rinsed it in buffer and
soaked it in the casting solution a few minutes. Then I removed it to a mold
containing the casting solution plus hardner. It hardened, but is a little
sticky and not as smooth on the outside as I would have liked. Also the organs
all turned a paler shade of white. Are there protocols and/or stains that
would help with something like this?
Thanks for any imput!!
Kathy
