RE: Skins and IF's

Deb:

We occassionally thaw a skin that has been misoriented when (and if) it was embedded in OCT at the time of freezing.  Generally thawing and refreezing would not be the prefered method of handling due to potential for ice artifact, reduction in antigenicity, chance for separation of epidermal layer, etc.   But if handled correctly and properly refrozen, it can be done.

Good luck,

Subject: Skins and IF's

Say...can anyone tell me if skin's that are flash frozen and stained for immunoflourescence can be thawed and refrozen?  I know muscle can because of freeze artifact but can skin?
Thanks:-)
