RE: Nexes waste disposal

From:"Sebree Linda A."

Stacy,

Our University of Wisconsin Safety Dept. determined that the amount of DAB was adequately diluted and was not a hazard to be disposing of down the drain. They did however have an issue with the coverslip oil so we collect that and they pick it up and use it for the incineration of other "things".

Subject: Nexes waste disposal

Hello out there!
I am looking for a current disposal protocol for the waste from the Ventana
Nexes -IHC. This waste contains DAB, APK wash, liquid coverslip, and
various antibody wastes.
We are currently adding 12 mls of 30% hydrogen peroxide, letting it sit for
24 hours, then down the drain. I think this way is outdated and I would
like a current (and safe) method.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
