Dear Jose:

    Overnight might be allright for carbohydrates in properly fixed 
tissue, but why??  How difficult is it to not leave the slides in water 
for long periods of time? Do you really want to risk your valuable 
specimens?
Also, long times in water may tend to loosen the sections.
