RE: Canned text for gross description of tissue specimens

From:"LaFriniere, Mike"

Carolyn,

Most pathology labs are beginning to have more and more canned text, not
only for gross but also for final diagnosis. Nation wide, many Pathologist
favor this process to begin to standardize reports including diagnosis,
i.e., cancer staging, with breast, prostate, etc. However, I do agree that
you must make the specimen "fit" the gross description. Therefore, I
recommend that you have a canned text for each different type of specimen.
It is my preference, currently, not to can text large specimens such as
colons, lungs, kidneys, etc. in my laboratory. I give a grossing class that
are CEU approved through NSH, Region and State Societies for histologist and
have examples of canned text in my handout. If you send me your fax # I will
gladly fax you some examples I use that may help you get started..If at all
possible, I would recommend any of the NSH CEU approved grossing classes for
histologists, they are full of a wealth of information you may find helpful.

Regards...

I would like to create a canned text for gross description of most tissue
specimens.
Can anyone suggest an easy way to implement this task?
