Effects of formic acid decalcification on Luxol Fast Blue/Cresyl violet for myelin

From:Gayle Callis

Dear Histonetters,

Thanks for answers on decalcification of mouse vertebral column to stain
spinal cord (rather than push cord out with PBS) - decalcification was a
consideration here also. It has been ages since I did Luxol fast
blue/cresyl violet staining so here is the next question

Will formic acid decalcification affect the staining quality or compromise
staining of Luxol Fast blue/cresyl violet for myelin, other CNS tissues? If
so, I go for cord removal to get rid of bone.
