Volunteer for Tanzania

From:"Wallace Rogers, Pathologist"

I recently worked for two years in Tanzania as a volunteer pathologist and am now trying to help them find a short-term histotechnologist volunteer. Interested persons should contact Dr Moshi directly, but I would be glad to answer questions.

VOLUNTEER HISTOTECHNOLOGISTS are needed at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Moshi Tanzania. Help for at least two months is preferred to develop a collection of teaching slides and provide relief for the technician as he takes his holidays. KCMC is not able to provide a salary or help with transportation. The laboratory prepares sections and cytology material from the 450 bed teaching hospital and referrals from across Tanzania. Routine simplified methods and limited special stains are done. Some teaching activities may be possible. Six month advance planning is necessary to obtain the necessary work permit. KCMC is located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and provides good access to East African culture and scenic wonders. For information contact Dr E Moshi, Pathology KCMC, Private Bag 3010, Moshi, Tanzania and pathology@kcmc.ac.tz
