Re: Modified Davidson's vs. Davidson's

Sharon Willman asks:

Davidson's and Modified Davidson's [fixative].<<

Davidson's original formula, published I still don't know where, included a
considerable amount of glycerol, for no reason anybody understands. When
Moore and Barr omitted the glycerol in their papers on sex chromatin bodies
(Barr bodies) they omitted the glycerol, and referred to the formula as
"modified Davidson's fixative". The distinction has not been maintained by
later authors and commentators, including me.
