The best solution to this problem would be to watch for the very occasional
distal gastrectomy specimen from a patient with acute ulcer disease (usually
with perforation) and untreated Helicobacter pylori infection. I have seen
one such specimen in the last ten years. Properly prepared, a single specimen
like this could provide us all with positive controls until kingdom come.
