Our pathologists usually make the call as to whether a case needs to be 
phoned, even if it has arrived marked urgent. They then either phone and Fax 
the result.<<

Pathologists do quite a lot of phoning of important results. We often forget 
to document the phone call in the final report, though we're being told - 
like by the lawyers - that it's awfully important to do so. 

I usually write something like "Dr. Smith (telephoned at 1100 on 5-3-2002) 
describes an encircling mass seen in the rectosigmoid at endoscopy."
