Ian if it's anything like a CPA inspection you would never get time to ski.  Just airports, stations and those horrible hotel rooms.

Following on from John's posting, how do you become a CAP inspector? I'd love a job like that and what does it pay? Can I become a visiting inspector, spending a few months per year visiting labs. Parhaps a month in Colorado during the winter then another month in summer enjoying the sunshine and finally a month in New England during fall. I'm perfect for the job, 36 years experience and all I need is a friendly face and kind word. More I think about it, I'll do it free, just send the air tickets and schedule.
Ian.
