RE: cryojane

From:"Morschauser, Andrew" <andrew.morschauser@spcorp.com>

Hi Atoska,

I have found that the temperature of the cryostat has a narrow temperature
range in which the Cryojane adhesive windows will stick to the block or
transfer the section to the slide. When using the system, I usually section
in the temperature range of 23-25 degrees. Try to do everything in the
Cryostat; removing the film protecting the adhesive on the window, peeling
the window off the slide when transferring, and removing the slide from the
protective package. Try to handle the tape as little as possible.

Leaving a supply of slides in the cryostat overnight does not present a
problem, but remove tape windows that haven't been used. If you leave them
in the cryostat overnight, it seems there is a static build-up on the window
causing the tape to stick to the hand roller. Furthermore, I try to keep
the hand roller clean and use 100%EtOH after sectioning is completed.

Finally, I have been advised to store the supply of packaged slides so they
are lying flat rather than on their side to prevent uneven
distribution/shifting of the adhesive coating the slide.

Andy
