I use and agree with your method of disposal. I have a low volume =
research lab so it is no problem to collect waste alcohols and xylenes. =
Each container (I use old plastic ETOH bottles) is labelled and put in =
the safety cabinet until our Safety Dept. comes and picks it up once a =
month. We were told that by putting large amounts of fix , alcohols, =
and/or xylene in the drain, it kills the bacteria (the good ones) in the =
waste treatment plant, which in turn lets other NASTIES loose in our =
water system. The best part is by "signing off" to the Safety dept., I =
have given them the responsiblity of proper disposal.
