Glue is okay but if the concentration is too high you will get bluish 
background on the H&E
Baking overnite if possible is a good option, also you can try commercially 
prepped
Poly-L Lysine slides or coat your own with Poly-l-Lysine or egg albumin.
Since these slides are not for immunos  you can also try Knox gelatin in the
