Uniforms and/or scrubs definitely look professional in the medical field,
even if you have to wear the PPE over them while doing all those nasty
hazardous things.  :-)  Besides, lace-up shoes usually don't look too funky
with a dress or skirt, and my feet feel vulnerable in the exposed area in
flats or heels.  I've had some exciting moments when my barrier gown caught
the scalpel blade and spun it onto the floor!
