I apologize for any misunderstanding. When I re-read what I wrote I
realize I was not very clear. What I meant is what I was seeing in my
mind. And that is that we put our waste container jugs in the sink when
we empty the formalin containers, or when we change the solutions on the
processor, etc. NO, WE DO NOT DUMP THINGS DOWN OUR SINK DRAIN--EVER!!
All of our waste solutions are put into these jugs which are supplied from
our stock room at no charge to us. These jugs are then picked up by our
Radiation and Chemical Safety department. What they do with them, meets
all EPA requirements even though I don't know what they do with them.
Sorry for mis-leading people, but after being in the Histiology field for
32 years, I do know the rules for proper disposal of our waste or spent
solutions. Please don't send out the EPA to scold me!!!!
