Hello Eileen,
I know the saliva is a bit disgusting but it works very well and in a busy
laboratory I prefer it to weighing out enzymes and waiting for them to warm
up.
I recently noticed that when one leaves the control 'PAS only' slide in
distilled water while digesting out the glycogen in the test slide the
glycogen dissolves out anyway so now I leave it in the oven and only bring
down to water just as I'm about to add the periodic acid.I tested out
leaving it in alcohol and this too dissolved out the glycogen.Has anyone
else observed this.I'm using formalin fixed paraffin embedded
tissue.Annette Ryan, Drogheda Ireland
